Where support for leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship define the aspiration of the Institution for the next 10 years.Air Wick® Essential Oils joins forces with WWF Mexico to undertake a reforestation and preservation project of the ecosystems where the Monarch butterfly, one of the most important pollinator species in North America, migrates and hibernates. Reckitt, a multinational personal care, household and cleaning products company, announced on March 31 a global alliance with WWF to restore wildflower habitats and mobilize millions of people to take action in favor of nature in nine countries.
In Mexico, the collaboration seeks to protect the Monarch butterfly, whose occupancy was reduced by 26% in the forests of Michoacán and the State of Mexico in the 2020-2021 season, as well as other pollinators, through the recovery and propagation of wild flowers and the conservation of their hibernation habitats in the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve. These habitats provide ecosystem services such as drinking water to more than five million people in the Metropolitan Chinese Australia Phone Number List Area of Mexico City. Through four pillars, the project seeks the following results from 2021 to 2024: Restoration: production of 750 thousand trees on 630 hectares for the reforestation of the hibernation habitat of the Monarch butterfly. Protection: community management and monitoring of 13,500 hectares of forest in the Monarca region, located on the borders of Michoacán and the State of Mexico. Local associates: creation of 35 permanent jobs and 870 temporary jobs, which involve the participation of women in productive and conservation activities.
Aromatic gardens: establishment of three aromatic gardens with the collaboration of 60 women to benefit the Monarch and other pollinators, local communities and nature. In addition, Air Wick® Essential Oils, a collection of home fragrances, will launch a campaign called “ Together for Wildflowers and the Monarch Butterfly ”, which will soon be seen on the labeling of an important range of these fragrances. “At Air Wick® we want to fulfill our purpose of connecting people with nature and generating long-term alliances of great value that allow us to give back to nature some of what it gives us. We are concerned about the reduction in the Monarch butterfly population since we know the fundamental role that this insect plays in the preservation of habitats and wild flowers in Mexico.
